Zoonoses are diseases or infections caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and prions that are naturally transmitted between animals and humans. 

At the Institut national de santé publique du Québec, the work of the zoonoses team focuses mainly on :

  • Mosquitoe-borne infectious diseases; 
  • Tick-borne infectious diseases, including Lyme disease; 
  • Enteric zoonoses; 
  • Rabies.
